The house already existed. What it needed was a plan for the inside — a staircase that worked as a feature rather than an obstacle, a kitchen that could take real cooking, and enough built-in storage to keep the rooms clear.

We kept the palette narrow: white walls, pale stone floors, and timber for anything you touch. In a house with this much natural light, restraint does more than colour would.
